Description: This project explores the user’s identification of numbers on a telephone keypad through touch. The keypad is usually navigated by using the raised dot on the ‘5’ key but with the larger size of the keys there is potential to look at designs that are more inclusive in their approach.
To create an interface that is easily identifiable through touch, to make a mainstream product like a phone more accessible to a wider spectrum of users, including visually impaired and older people. By developing keyboards with a tactile identity, the project proposes a new standard of numeric and command keys for landline phones, and further adaptation for other common electronic interfaces such as ATM machines.
