Description: The Artemis project aims to create an added value videoconferencing system that will support the provision of Assistive Technology for accessing IT. The system will bring the possibility of AT being prescribed in European regions where this currently cannot be achieved and improving services in regions were provision is currently possible. The added value will come from the assessment tools and case management facilities in the software. Remotely re-programmable switches and a head pointer are included in the baseline set of input devices included, but it is hoped to expand the choice of pointers supported. The beneficiary population of end-users of the Assistive technology are NOT being considered by their specific diagnoses but rather based on assessment factors, leading to a wide group of potential clients for the service.
To create a single system that is capable of supporting the various approaches to provision of AT (for access to IT) across the partner countries taking into account the variations in existing service arrangements and types of end-users of the service. In parallel to the system, implementation of the service is also being studied to ensure that a usable service exists at the end of the project. The provision of AT is considered to include everything from initial assessment to long term follow-up. The aim is to implement assessment and case management tools within the system. The commercial partners aim to market the system and devices at the end of the project in each partner country.
