Proof of Concept Programme
Below is an overview of the funding available through the Proof of Concept Programme. For more detailed information, see the funding page of the Proof of Concept Programme website.
Types of grant(s):
- Proof of Concept grant: grant available after "blue sky" research has been completed and a background patent has usually been generated or filed, but before a full laboratory demonstration of technology, pre-production and prototyping and commercial funds are available.
Size of Grant(s):
- Individual grants are capped at £200K.
Application deadline(s):
- Annual call for applications.
Eligibility/Restrictions:
- Applicants must be based within Scottish universities, research institutes or NHS Boards;
- Applications should be early-stage ideas which have typically reached patent level, and could lead to the creation of new businesses, or licensing innovative technologies;
- Successful bidders must demonstrate that their ideas have originality and true commercial potential;
- Students are not eligible to apply for Proof of Concept Programme Funding.
