Activities: Sierra Leone Association of the Blind (SLAB) embarks on a series of advocacy programmes,
adult literacy and skill training classes and some income generating activities to assist blind adults
become useful, productive and independent as most of the blind population could not be gainfully employed.
SLAB has branches in Northern, Eastern and Southern regions of Sierra Leone and schools for blind
children have been established by SLAB in these regions. SLAB operates a Braille Printing Press, located
at the Government Printing department in Freetown. New papers, magazines and textbooks for primary,
secondary, college and university students and the reading blind, are now being printed in Braille.
