Activities: The IAPB is an organization engaged in the mobilitation of resources and means to aid activities in the prevention of blindness. The scope of the IAPB is to promote and to support worldwide campaigns against blindness, but with particular emphasis on care of the local communities. In particular, the IAPB publishes and diffuses scientific and informative material; it promotes search and study initiatives through agreements of collaboration with the State, Universities and Ophtalmological Institutions to render effective prevention of blindness; to provide rehabilitation, psychological and social recovery of the individual and to promote and organize training courses for educators and visual rehabilitators.

Activities: The property of the Tuscan Regional government the Stamperia Braille provides a range of services for the blind residing in the region's territorial jurisdiction: first of all the transcription in Braille of school texts for students at very convenient prices. Additional services include reprints of works listed in the Stamperia catalogue for the blind residing in other regions and, of particular importance musical transcripts in Braille that can be requested by blind people in any part of the world.

Activities: UICI is an association of blind and partially sighted persons which was founded in 1920. The Italian legislation gives UICI the task of safeguarding the moral and material interests of all persons with a visual impairment. It runs activities in the following sectors: education, social activities, technical aids, and professional activities. The UICI created services such as the National Talking Book Centre, the National Technical Aids Centre, the Institute of Research, Training and Rehabilitation (IRIFOR) for the blind and a national museum.
